Street Style: Overalls and Cropped Tops

Not many can pull off this denim piece from my childhood, but this cutie sure did! I loved how she paired up the overalls with a striped crop top, black mid platform sandals, and topped it off with a cute messy side braid – such a young and flirty look!

On top of having great fashion, this girl also has her own organic cotton candy, called Bon Puf! Check it out!

Dress It Up or Down

Most of the time, I am the person at the holiday parties that is way overdressed. I can’t help that I love clothes and dressing up! Life of an aspiring fashionista… For this year’s holiday party, I decided to mix it up a bit – dress it up on top, but dress it down on the bottom, or what my Grandma likes to call it “a fancy top with raggedy jeans!” haha. I obviously had to “shoulder” my jacket (tip: if all else fails, shoulder it), rock the shades, strap on the studded heels, and flash off my favorite Tannery LA bag to add a little bit more steeze to the outfit :)

1920’s Inspired Holiday Looks!

Boardwalk Empire Inspired Looks!

I’m seeing 1920’s / Boardwalk Empire inspired looks all over the runways and in stores, and I’m personally oogling the sequined 1920’s era dress above for upcoming holiday parties and NYE!

If you’re not sure what to wear for a big upcoming event, but you want to look non-basic and super stylish, try opting for garb from this era! It’s fun and classic and screams fashionista.

For the ladies:

These looks are about being classy and timeless. We love the art-deco jewelry pieces that complement any outfit and clash different metals and gems into single, artistic pieces.

Feathers add a flair of femininity and playfulness. With their soft edges and colorful options, feathers are fun features on clutches, head pieces, and even earrings! If you’re going for a feathery look, wear simple makeup that puts focus on long lashes and flushed cheekbones.

A flapper inspired dress can be both sexy and sophisticated, and simplifies getting ready by calling all attention to itself! Keep shoes tall, strappy, and try to incorporate black/silver/gold hues.

For the men:

Try sporting a hat if you normally don’t – we suggest simple fedoras or boat hats to add instant sophistication to your look.

Wingtip shoes are a must, especially when paired with a fun bow tie or suspenders.

Don’t hesitate to mix and match different colors and patterns – why not try a striped sport coat with light pants and a dark fedora? If you’re really trying to play the part, throw in a Gatsby-inspired cane.

This Betsy Johnson inspired look definitely caught our eye on the way to lunch! THOSE TIGHTS? Yes, yes, yes. Taking a dark dress and pairing it with funky, patterned tights is what we’re all about as the winter months roll in. Wanna make your look a little more badass? Try a leather jacket and some combat boots. BAD BITCH look, but still classy. We’re into it.

Sending out this inspo to all the darlings stuck in the cold this week! It’s still sunny in LA, and we wouldn’t have it any other way! With Thanksgiving around the corner, it seems like it’s only a matter of time before we stash our cut-off shorts and start nomming on the pumpkin pie. I’m lovin’ this look because it features two pieces that I knowww I’ll be wearing all winter long: body chains (YES) & kimonos (think paired over a long sleeve, under a leather jacket, or with denim tied in!).

Would you wear a body chain?? How do you incorporate body chains into your look?? Share below or tag us on insta @halfsiesblog for a chance to be featured!

Every year as temps start to drop, I hunt for looks that will keep me warm without compromising style. I love this look because it’s simple and perfect for day-to-night versatility! The warm knit sweater adds an element of casual comfort to an otherwise polished glam, and gets bonus points for being comfy + warm. If you’re looking for a sleeker look, opt for a leather jacket in place of the sweater! The peep-toe booties have a flair that’s flirty and fun, but switch them out for knee-high boots in cooler weather! Tie the whole look together with romantic curls and simple makeup.
