DIY Twist Bands

I’m obsessed with twist band hair ties, but let’s cut the crap. These things go for like $2 a pop at the cheapest which is completely absurd. Follow the simple tutorial below to make your own and save some dollas.

What you’ll need to make 4 bands:

♥ 1 yard fold over elastic, any color (find this at any fabric store)
♥ Craft scissors
♥ Ruler

The how-to:

First, gather your supplies. You can get a yard of fold-over elastic for $2-$3. Cut roughly 9.5″ sections.

Once you’ve cut the elastic into sections, fold one of them in half.

Loosely tie the whole thing into a knot, then slowly tighten, pushing the knot upwards towards the tip of the elastic.

Voila! You can make a bunch in just a few minutes. Notice how some of the edges may fray? Trim the lose ends down and top off with a light coat of clear nail polish.

The best part of all? These bad boys are super good for your hair and double as an adorable accessory. Check out our post here to find ways to pair your bands with your fave watches and jewelry!

Strawberry brown sugar face mask

A concoction that gets rid of dead skin cells and moisturizes all skin types to reveal soft, glowing skin! This pre-makeup regimen is excellent for use before an important evening out, revealing your most radiant skin!

What you’ll need:
-2 large strawberries, mashed
-1 tablespoon brown sugar
-1 tablespoon coconut oil

The how-to:
Combine the 3 ingredients in a small bowl and mix together until well blended. Wash you face with warm water to open pores, then scoop into your hands.

Apply mask to clean skin and leave on for 7 minutes. If the concoction is too goopy, just add more brown sugar until the mix sits comfortably on your face.

(WARNING: This stuff smells so good, you’ll feel like you put a dollop of grandma’s jelly on your face! I actually had to take a taste and the stuff is delicious.)

After 7 – 10 minutes has elapsed, rinse your face with cold water. The cold water will close your pores and leave your skin a soft, exfoliated base for your regular makeup routine!

This is also a great pre-bedtime regimen! If you plan to use before sleeping, wash the mask off your face using warm water (this will keep your pores open to absorb any pre-bedtime serums or creams), and then apply your night treatments as usual.

This is one of our favorite all-natural face treatments, and is safe to use daily! It’s a steal too – compares to Fresh Sugar Face Polish at $58 a pot!
