When Eryn and I moved in together, I had to reorganize my life (moving is good for that, at least). I love having a desk in my room, because it’s like my little zen sanctuary where I can be creative and get work done without any distractions. I’ve always loved keeping things simple, decorative, and girly! But much to my surprise, a lot of my girlfriends live in perpetual clutter, chucking clothes, old documents, jewelry, fake eyelashes – you name it! – on their desks. We’re all guilty of getting a lil messy because, let’s face it, none of us have enough time. But I’ve recently realized how happy it makes me to come home to my cute, organized desk that showcases my fave jewelry and perfumes!
That’s my zen tip. It’s so nice to know that you have a clean surface in your room, a place where you can escape from wine nights and rowdy apartment visitors to just sit and do your makeup / paint your nails / write a thank you card / blog / work / skype / etc etc etc! I promise, your life will feel so much more organized, and you’ll feel happy when your desk is cute, clean, and a showcase of all your beautiful girly trinkets!
Just random thoughts of the day, but it’s the little stuff that matters and really makes ya happy! Hope everyone had a great Monday!
Los Angeles based designers and sisters, Carine (left) and Arda (right) founded a boutique line of bags and jewelry, which initially began as an outlet of self expression, eventually leading to the establishment of Arda Marie Jewelryand Tannery LA. Each of the collections are filled with simple and versatile pieces — leathers, stones, and metallics, that are great for any occasion! Be sure to check out their work at Unique LA in December!
I’ve been wearing twist bands since college, and I can’t quite remember why I started. Perhaps the appeal of the mason jars filled with fun neon options at my favorite boutiques had something to do with it. Or maybe it was my hair stylist, yelling at me for my ever-splitting ends and long tangled hair.
To this day, you’ll never catch me sporting a regular hair tie again. In my opinion, the classic black hair elastic is passé – it’s both impractical & uncomfortable. (And let’s face it, not nearly as cuhhhhute as the images below!!)
My argument stands: these twisty babies are fab fashion statements that simultaneously serve a practical purpose! Can we ask for anything more??!
Check out some of the ways we pair our twist bands and let us know what you think! Can a hair tie really double as an accessory? We vote yes!!
Look out for my DIY post on how to make your own twist bands, DIRT CHEAP! Coming soon! xx
